Frequently Asked Questions
Reduced Electricity Bills: Significantly lower or even eliminate your monthly electricity expenses by generating your own power.
Environmental Benefits: Contribute to a greener planet by reducing your carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels.
Increased Property Value: A solar-equipped property is often considered a premium asset and can increase its market value.
Energy Independence: Gain greater control over your energy supply and be less affected by power outages.
Long-Term Savings: After the initial investment, you essentially get “free” electricity for decades.
Solar panels (also called PV or photovoltaic panels) convert sunlight directly into DC (Direct Current) electricity. An inverter then converts this DC power into AC (Alternating Current) electricity, which is what your home or workshop appliances use. In grid-connected systems, any excess power generated can be fed back into the electricity grid.
Grid-Tied/On-Grid System: This is the most common type for homes and workshops. It’s connected to the public electricity grid. You use solar power when available, and draw from the grid when solar generation is low (e.g., at night, on cloudy days). Excess solar power can be exported to the grid through net metering.
Off-Grid System: This system is completely independent of the public grid and requires battery storage to power your premises when the sun isn’t shining. Ideal for remote locations with no grid access or for those seeking complete energy independence.
Hybrid System: Combines solar panels with battery storage and is also connected to the grid. This offers the best of both worlds – energy independence with battery backup, and the ability to export excess power to the grid.
On average, you’ll need about 10 square meters (approximately 100-110 square feet) of shadow-free roof area for every 1 kWp (kilowatt-peak) of solar system capacity. The exact space depends on the wattage and type of panels.
